Most of which are very easy to do, too. In fact, here’s a new recipe I’d like to share with you – crab pasta with basil using cherry tomatoes.

This crab pasta recipe is not only delightful to the palate and satisfying to the tummy; it’s nutritious, as well. You can serve this dish as a healthy snack to kids. For the hubby and me however, it’s usually the main meal itself, served with fried chicken at the side.
What’s amazing even, is that you only need several ingredients in cooking this meal!

Crab Pasta with Basil
Ingredients
- garlic crushed and chopped
- cherry tomatoes cut in halves
- olive oil
- crab meats
- fresh basil leaves
- shiitake mushrooms julienne-d
- basil powder
- black powdered pepper
- paprika powder
- fish sauce
- pasta
Instructions
- Cook the pasta. Drain and set aside for later.
- Pour olive oil in a very hot pan.
- Saute' the garlic. Cook until golden.
- Add the crab meat. Stir well.
- Season the dish with fish sauce.
- Add the mushrooms. Stir well.
- Cover the pan to cook the mushrooms faster.
- Add the cherry tomatoes. Stir well.
- Lower the heat; and cover the pan to soften the tomatoes.
Add a little more olive oil to avoid the dish from drying up. Don't worry to much about putting too much olive oil. It's Omega-3 fatty acids make it one of the healthy oils your body can enjoy.
- After 2-3 minutes, stir the dish once more. Crush the softened tomatoes to release they juices and flavor.
- Add the basil leaves. Stir well until the leaves are drenched in the tomato sauce.
- Season the dish with basil leaves, pepper and paprika powder. Stir well.
- Season with fish sauce to enrich the flavor.
- Add the seasoned pasta into the the sauce. Mix well.
For a cherry tomato-based pasta like this, I like the pasta and the sauce mixed together. In cooking bolognese pasta however, the pasta may be served separately from the sauce.
- Lower the heat and toss the pasta until the sauce is evenly distributed.
- Taste the dish. Add herbs and spices or fish sauce, as per your preference.
- Serve while hot.

Other ways to make Crab Pasta
While the crab meat is poaching, cut the garlic into a quarter-inch-thick ribbon. Then, heat the pasta in boiling water and reserve 1/4 cup of cooking liquid. Peel and devein the crab, check for shells, and then add fennel pollen and basil seeds. Continue to simmer the mixture for about 5 minutes, adding the pasta after the first batch. When the pasta is done, top with basil seeds, and serve.
To make crab pasta, prepare the crab. Clean it and cut it into 1/8-inch ribbons. In a large saucepan, heat the butter or olive oil. Toast the garlic for 30 seconds. Add the pasta and the cream mixture, and stir until the pasta is completely coated. Pour the sauce over the crab and add the spaghetti. If you’re serving it to guests, squeeze the lemon quarter over the top. If desired, garnish the dish with parmesan cheese and parsley leaves.
Once the pasta is cooked, add the butter or wine to the pot and add a few cloves of garlic. Let it cook for a few minutes before adding the rest. Season with salt and pepper. Meanwhile, chop the cherry tomatoes and the fennel pollen. If using fresh lump crab meat, make sure to cut them into thin ribbons. Once the basil and fennel pollen have been soaked in water, they should float to the top.
To make the crab pasta, cook the pasta until tender. If it is overcooked, remove it and discard it. Repeat the process until the pasta is cooked. Then, add the cream. The cream should thicken slightly. While simmering, the pasta should be thoroughly cooked. Once the pasta is done, add the fennel pollen and basil seeds. Ensure that the crab is well-cooked. Then, remove the shells and serve with a spoon.
